Press Release: The DATC
The Detroit Actor’s Theatre Company needed help attracting patrons to their shows during their first season. As a new and relatively unknown group in Detroit’s active theater scene, the DATC needed to make a grand impression.
I helped conceive and execute fairy tale-inspired event to promote the DATC’s run of “Into the Woods.” A local cupcake chain agreed to create a line of fantastical cupcakes, which the actors would sell while in character. Families could meet their favorite princes and princesses while the theater company passed out their fliers.
Our collaboration with a well-known local business helped our press release get published through several outlets. The event was highly attended — we ran out of cupcakes in the first hour! In addition to publishing our press release, one station photographed and filmed the event for their website. We achieved our original goal by selling out multiple shows.
